Cape canaveral
“Sun, Space, and Sea” is the official slogan of the city of Cape Canaveral, where the economy and workforce grew along with the nation’s space program.
COMMUNITY
About 10,000 people live in the city of Cape Canaveral. Many residents work in the aerospace industry, the service industry, and at the Kennedy Space Center.
As the midpoint between Miami and Jacksonville, Cape Canaveral is surrounded by water. It’s a diverse community with young families and retirees.
SCHOOLS
The city of Cape Canaveral is part of Brevard Public Schools, one of the top-rated districts in Florida.
Cape View Elementary School, located in Cape Canaveral, serves grades K–6. Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High, located in Cocoa Beach, serves grades 7–12.
Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High is one of the top-ranked high schools in Florida and is one of the top International Baccalaureate Schools in the country.

Cape Canaveral is best known for NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center.
The Air Force Space and Missile History Center is located at the south gate of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Vistors can view historic information and exhibits from each launch complex at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
Cocoa Beach
Cocoa Beach is not only a residential community of just over 12,000, it also is the top tourist destination on Florida’s Space Coast. Just six miles long and mostly less than one mile wide, Cocoa Beach is known as the surfing capital of the East Coast.
COMMUNITY
Residents enjoy living as if they are on vacation whether they are visiting the world-famous Cocoa Beach pier, historic Cocoa Village, or Ron Jon’s Surf Shop.
Cocoa Beach is the closest beach to Orlando, so this is a popular tourist destination. Residents get to enjoy all the amenities of a tourist location while enjoying life near the water.

SCHOOLS
Cocoa Beach is part of Brevard County Schools. The town has two elementary schools, Freedom 7 and Theodore Roosevelt. Midde and high school students attend Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School.
One of two Brevard County high schools to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School has been ranked one of the best public high schools in Florida by U.S. News and World Report.

Indialantic
Indialantic is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River. This small town with a population of just under 3,000 offers a variety of recreational opportunities for residents and visitors including boating, fishing, surfing, walking and biking. Indialantic has many options for shopping and dining in a relaxed, beachy atmosphere.
COMMUNITY
Indialantic is a beach town, through and through. Even away from the water the spirit of the beach is evident in the storefronts, restaurants, and overall atmosphere.
A ride down any residential street will leave you with sights of surfboards and small boats. The excitement about being outdoors is contagious when coupled with the beautiful scenery and fantastic South Florida weather.
SCHOOLS
As Indialantic is a small beach-side town, many students travel off the barrier island to attend school in Melbourne, which is home to a public, private, charter, and magnet schools. However, there are some options close to home. Indialantic Elementary School for grades K–5 is one of the most highly rated elementary schools in the area and is quite exclusive to residents of Indialantic only.
Those looking for post-secondary school options are within a nearby commute to Indian River State College. The University of Central Florida and Florida Atlantic University Honors College are also just short drives away north and south, respectively.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Make no mistake, the primary point of interest for Indialantic is the beach. However, there are plenty of additional attractions in the area. With Melbourne close by, residents have many options for wonderful shopping experiences just down the road. Orlando is also nearby, just over an hour away, and is home to some of the best theme parks in the world.
Indialantic is just over two hours north of Miami and about an hour north of West Palm Beach, which are both home to many exciting venues, restaurants, museums and of course, more beaches.
INDIALANTIC BEACHSIDE COMMUNITIES
The Cloisters – A gated, seaside community offering community pool, tennis courts, and security guard. Vacant lots available.
Oceanside Village – This gated subdivision is between the beach and Riverside Drive. Ideal family neighborhood consisting of townhomes to luxury single-family homes. Amenities feature clubhouse, pool and spa, basketball and tennis courts. Vacant lots available.
Riverside Drive Homes – Indian River front homes situated on .5 acre plus lots. Some homes have access to deep water canals that lead to the River. This area is a beautiful scenic stretch of Indialantic and one that offers some of the most sought-after addresses in the area.
The Sanctuary – This luxury gated community is minutes from Paradise Beach, as well as the “core” of Indialantic. Walking distance to award winning schools and features 24-hour security, a luxurious clubhouse, large community pool, and lighted tennis courts.
Rio Villa – One of the best known family neighborhoods in Indialantic, Rio Villa, divided into North and South, offers something for everyone, with more moderately priced homes. Many homes offer amazing architectural amenities including custom hardwood floors, landscape lighting, and dramatic tray ceilings.

INDIALANTIC OCEANFRONT CONDOS

Magnolia Key – This condominium features Key West architecture with open, bright units. Indian Harbour
IHB is still young, as far as cities go, at 60. The City of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, was developed as a residential community in support of the growing space industry and activities at nearby Kennedy Space Center, from which humans first traveled to the moon. Fairly small as cities go, it is only two miles square, and about 8,200 citizens call it home. Of diverse backgrounds and all ages, residents enjoy an ideal location on the east coast of central Florida, nestled between the beautiful blue Atlantic Ocean and the calm waters of the Indian River Lagoon.
Visitors can relax or picnic at beachfront parks or stroll through the 27-acre Gleason Park surrounding a lake with its many exercise paths, lighted in the early evening by quaint Victorian lights.
COMMUNITY
Indian Harbour Beach has a secluded location between the Intracoastal waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. As such, the small community members of this tiny beach town know and look out for one another.
SCHOOLS
Indian Habour Beach has one public elementary school, Ocean Breeze Elementary, and Indian Harbour Montessori private school that covers preK through grade 6.
Students moving on from Ocean Breeze Elementary may attend DeLaura Middle School in Satellite Beach, Herbert Hoover Middle School in Indialantic, and Satelitte High School in Satellite Beach. All four schools are also part of Brevard County Schools.

The Algonquin Sports Complex provides facilities and playing fields for senior baseball, Little League, softball, and soccer teams serving multiple age groups.
The Eau Gallie Causeway connects Indian Harbour Beach and the Eau Gallie neighborhood of Melbourne.
Founded in 1907, the Eau Gallie Yacht Club moved to its current location in Indian Harbour Beach in 1960. Centered around a deepwater marina that accommodate yachts up to 55 feet, the Eau Gallie Yacht Club is situated at the mouth of the Banana River in a safe harbor adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway.
The Kiwi Tennis Club in Indian Harbour Beach has 13 lit courts, 9 of which are clay, a full-service pro shop, fitness room, banquet rooms, and much more.
INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH COMMUNITIES
Lansing Island – This private, secluded, luxury gated waterfront community is a homeowner’s dream come true! Surrounded by the gleaming waters of the Banana River to the west and the Grand Canal to the east, the wildlife, flora, and fauna offer magnificent views. This community boasts a guarded single-entry-point bridge and sophisticated clubhouse.

Melbourne Beach
Melbourne Beach and the South Beaches offer everything that you imagine when conjuring images of the beachy lifestyle. Miles and miles of sandy shores, homes offered in every price range, and communities that offer residents luxurious comforts away from the hustle of urban life.
COMMUNITY
Melbourne Beach is Brevard County’s oldest beach community. With a population less than 5,000 people, it has a family-friendly charm with subtropical weather.
Immersed in history, Melbourne Beach has 33 miles of beach that offers plenty of amenities for residents. Outdoor recreational activities take center stage and include fishing, boating, swimming, and golfing.
Melbourne Beach also offers ample “staycation” opportunities with its many bed and breakfasts, condos, and extended stay rentals.
SCHOOLS
Melbourne Beach is part of the Brevard County School District. Schools include Quest, West Melbournen and Suntree elementary schools, Westwood Junior and Senior High School, and Viera High School.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The historic Henegar Center for the Arts in nearby Melbourne features a main stage in a 493-seat proscenium-style theater where muscials, dramas, and comedies are produced.
The Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts is located on the campus of Eastern Florida State College in nearby Melbourne. Its 2,000-seat main state hosts a range of performances from classical to comedy to nationally known music artists.
The Foosaner Art Museum is located in the historic Eau Gallie neigbhorhood in nearby Melbourne.
MELBOURNE BEACH COMMUNITIES
Riverside Drive – Moderately priced homes, most with river and ocean access. Located just south of Indialantic.
Melbourne Shores – Melbourne Shores is a beach community in southern Brevard County. This paradise is nestled in the midst of the Archie Carr Wildlife Refuge approximately 7 miles north of the Sebastian Inlet.
Aquarina – Welcome to the only gated golf course community on Brevard County’s barrier island. A variety of residential options offered include existing luxurious oceanfront and riverfront homes, single family and attached golf villas, oceanfront condominiums, spacious hi-rise luxury condos with river to ocean views, and several more affordable alternatives.
Merritt island
Located on the eastern coast of Florida and part of Brevard County, Merritt Island is an unincorporated area known as the site of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Although the space shuttle program has ended, NASA continues to be a major employer and is still a major attraction for tourists.
COMMUNITY
Although the total area of Merritt Island is about 47 square miles, only 17.5 square miles is land and the rest is water.
The small and tight-knit Merritt Island community is made up of about 35,000 permanent residents, with single-family housing dominant.
Since Merritt Island lacks a municipal government, most of the common utilities, such as sewer and water, are managed by the Brevard County government.
SCHOOLS
Merritt Island is part of Brevard Public Schools and has some of the top-rated public schools in Florida.
There are five public elementary schools in Merritt Island: MILA, Tropical, Audubon, Lewis Carroll, and Robert Louis Stevenson School of the Arts. At the middle school level is Thomas Jefferson Middle School.
There are two public high schools, Merritt Island High School and Edgewood Junior/Senior High School. Edgewood Junior/Senior High earns consistently high rankings and in 2016 was ranked #4 in Florida and #30 in the country on U.S. News and World Report’s Best Public High Schools list.
Merritt Island Christian school is a private day school that serves preK through grade 12.

The Kennedy Space Center and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge are located in the northern part of Merritt Island.
At the Kennedy Space Center, visitors can see space shuttles and rare artifacts from previous space missions, including from the lunar landings.
Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is open to public unless closed for special purposes by NASA, which originally owned the land on which it stands. Bobcats and cougars live in the refuge, as well as 29 other mammal species. The refuge also serves as the gateway to the Great Florida Birding Trail.
Kiwanis Island Park has over 18 acres of river park dedicated to providing a place for boating, fishing, basketball, tennis, hiking, and a variety of community events at the community center.
Rockledge
Rockledge is the oldest city in Brevard County. A pleasant place to live, the weather is mild year-round with beaches and green spaces that embrace the notion of live, work and play.
COMMUNITY
With a population of about 25,000 people, Rockledge is part of the Palm Bay, Melbourne, and Titusville metropolitan area.
Close to the Interstate 95, which forms the western border of the community, Rockledge offers flexibility to residents who need to commute to jobs in the area.
Rockledge has a history tied to the tourism boom that brought development to Florida in the early 1900s. In the 1960s, Rockledge was known as a bedroom community for workers at the Kennedy Space Center.
SCHOOLS
Rockledge is part of Brevard County Schools, which have some of the top-ranked public schools in Florida.
Public schools located in Rockledge are Golfview Elementary, Hans Christian Andersen Elementary, John F. Kennedy Middle School, Ronald McNair Magnet Middle School, and Rockledge High School.
Rockledge High School is the first Brevard County school district to offer the Advanced International Certificate of Education and is an International Fellowship Center, a special designation only available to schools with an AICE program. Rockledge High School is the fifth in the United States to earn this title.

Founded in 1887, Rockledge has many historic homes and neigbhorhoods. The community has three residential historic districts: Barton Avenue, Rockledge Drive, and Valencia.
Satellite Beach
Located 30 minutes away from the Kennedy Space Center, Satellite Beach is one of the largest oceanfront communities in South Brevard County with a population of around 11,000 residents. Satellite Beach is nestled on the Melbourne Beach Barrier Islands between the Atlantic Ocean and Indian River Lagoon. This active community offers a variety of parks, recreational facilities, and pristine beaches in one of the most sought-after regions of northeast Florida.
COMMUNITY
The residents of Satellite Beach make the most of the amenities of this coastal community. There is a relaxed, laid-back feeling wherever you wander in this small town.
On weekends, residents rarely stay home. Instead, they gather together with family and friends for watersports or outdoor sports in their own backyards.
SCHOOLS
Satellite Beach is part of Brevard County Schools. There are three elementary schools in Satellite Beach: Holland, Seapark, Surfside. Also within the community’s borders are DeLaura Middle School and Satellite High School.
The Florida Institute of Technology and Eastern Florida State College are located in nearby Melbourne.

Satellite Beach Sports and Recreation Park offers a wide selection of community-based activities. Residents can hike and walk on the 35 acres of public space, enjoy the dog park, Frisbee fields, basketball and volleyball courts, and soccer fields.
Pelican Beach Park in Satellite Beach is a sea turtle habitat, where the Sea Turtle Preservation Society conducts weekly tours for interested nature lovers. Pavilions with grills along with a playground and volleyball courts make this a great place for fun in the sun.
Hightower Beach Park in Satellite Beach is a calm and tranquil retreat where residents can go to commune with nature or go bird watching.
Samson Island is a 52-acre passive recreation park owned and managed by Satellite Beach. The island is environmentally significant due to the rarity of undeveloped green space in the area.
SATELLITE BEACH COMMUNITIES
Tortoise Island – A highly desired luxury waterfront gated community. Residents enjoy this family-friendly community with its manicured lawns and scenic relaxing ponds. Amenities include a community website to keep residents informed and connected with neighbors, a full fitness center, swimming, tennis, media center, game room and saunas. Most of the residences back up to the riverfront or a navigable canal. Bring your boat and dock it at your back door!
Montecito – This luxury gated community is what beachside living is all about. Situated between the glorious Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon, this neighborhood features a clubhouse, community pool, work-out room, and path to the beach. The French Country and Mediterranean architecture is combined with lush landscaping, stylish lamp posts, tile roofs and brick paver driveways.

Suntree is an unincorporated township in the heart of Brevard County, Florida, that combine the natural beauty of the Florida coast with modern developments, including shopping and luxury housing.
COMMUNITY
Located between Interstate 95 and Route 1 just south of Viera, Suntree has a small population of about 5,000. Properties tend to be spacious, and it is not uncommon for residents to see wildlife while going about their day-to-day lives.
Suntree is home to an abundance of natural spaces, including lakes, preserves and parks, as well as the beautifully landscaped Suntree Country Club golf course.
SCHOOLS
Suntree is part of the top-rated Brevard County Schools. Students who live in Suntree are served by Suntree Elementary in Melbourne, DeLaura Middle School in Satellite Beach, and Viera High School in Viera.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Suntree is a very short drive from the Brevard Zoo. The city is also close to Coco Beach and Titusville, which are the center of Florida’s Space Coast.
West Melbourne
West Melbourne enjoys a subtropical humid climate in Brevard County on the eastern coast of Florida. Known for its growing population, West Melbourne is fast becoming the most sought-after town in the region.
COMMUNITY
Many families in West Melbourne home school their children, with the National Spelling Bee Championship being won seven times in the last 11 years by the children of local families.
With a population of just over 18,000, West Melbourne is a tight-knit community. It’s common to at least recognize everyone’s faces on a walk through the town’s downtown area.
SCHOOLS
West Melbourne is part of the top-rated Brevard County Schools. Brevard County schools in West Melbourne include Meadowland Primary for grades K–2, Medowlane Intermediate for grades 3–6, Central Middle for grades 7–8, and Melbourne High School for grades 9–2. Melbourne High School is an International Baccalaureate School.
Nearby colleges include Florida Institute of Technology and Eastern Florida State College, as well as the University of Central Florida, just about an hour’s drive away.

West Melbourne Community Park is home to the Space Coast Field of Dreams, where special needs athletes can use specially-equipped playgrounds, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and basketball courts.
Hammock Lakes Park has 12 acres of paved trails for walking and jogging, as well as facilities for volleyball and basketball.
Tallwood Park offers exercise stations along a trail that meanders through 4.4 acres of natural woodland.
Jan Lieson Crossroads Park offers a 9-hole mini disc golf course, grilling pavilions, and a nature walking trail. During Christmas, this park is the location of the annual tree lighting ceremony.
Viera
Golden sands along pristine beaches, ocean waves beating alongside the hull of a small boat, five-star golf courses with premier dining, and shopping at stores with the most sought-after name brands. It is hard to find a home where all of these attributes are easily found. But Viera, Florida, is this place.
VIERA COMMUNITY
A premier South Florida town located in Indian River County just a short drive north of West Palm Beach and about two hours north of Miami, Veira is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in the area. Luxury housing from premier designers and builders line the streets, offering a heightened level of comfort and convenience set in a naturally beautiful background.
VIERA SCHOOLS
Viera is home to a collection of private, magnet, charter, and public schools. The area is part of the greater Indian River County School District. Students wishing to study at any particular charter or magnet school are welcome to choose from any school within the county, including the highly rated Viera High School.
VIERA POINTS OF INTEREST
Viera has two highly acclaimed golf courses. Duran Golf Club, is ranked as one of the top 50 best courses in the country for practice ranges. Viera East Golf Club was designed and built by Joe Lee, one of the game’s most revered designers.
Quite close to Melbourne, Florida, which is a small town that has seen an upsurge recently in both residential and commercial development, Viera is home to a large collection of retail stores and entertainment venues.
Viera is also part of Florida’s Space Coast, with easy access to museums that feature everything you’d want to know about getting up into space. During the spring you can catch a training game for the Washington Nationals at the Space Coast Stadium. The Brevard Zoo is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
